Description

Your adventure begins in Cusco after breakfast with our departure for the Salkantay Lodge & Adventure Resort (SLAR). On the way:

  • We visit the Incan archeological complex of Tarawasi near Limatambo (approximately 1.5 hours from Cusco).
  • In the mountains, we pass by the town of Mollepata where we will stop for a cup of coffee before climbing up a winding trail toward the valley of Soraypampa.
  • We will enjoy “Salkantay”, the second most sacred snow-capped peak in Incan mythology. It is 20,566 feet (6,270 m) high, the tallest in the region.

SLAR is in Soraypampa at 12,690 feet above sea level. Our tour stays at this lodge for two nights. On the second day, the most popular activity is a mid-day excursion to a glacial lake where the most adventurous can go for a swim. For the third day, a trip to Wayra Lodge in Huayraccmachay is planned.

Mountain Lodges of Peru, the company that manages the lodge, offers you one of the finest adventures: an opportunity to experience the essence of adventure within the confines of land-based comfort.

Mountain Lodges of Peru believes that a great adventure must be experienced on several levels, which is why we go beyond comfortable lodging and important hikes - we offer a unique opportunity to experience the ancient history of the Land of the Incas, detailed contemporary manifestations of the Incan culture, the most interesting and varied flora and exotic fauna, gastronomic surprises, the determination of the local people to move forward, new friends, and kindred souls.

  • Raising the educational level of more than 150 families in the area.
  • Offering incentives to the local population, so that they take an active role in the tourism development of the area.
