Looking for a little adventure on your next vacation? How does visiting a constantly erupting, active volcano sound? After being dormant for a century, Pacaya Volcano in Guatemala erupted in 1965 and has been spewing lava almost continuously ever since.
A truly incredible sight to behold, Pacaya is one of Guatemala's most popular tourist attractions and easily accessible from Guatemala City and Antigua. Tour guides will take you to spots where you can get close enough to poke the lava with a stick and even roast a marshmallow. If you get lucky, you could be treated to a spectacular show of lava, rock, and ash shooting out of the crater and forming lava rivers like the one pictured above. Pacaya Volcano is also one of the few volcanoes in the world you are allowed to camp on.
