Swiss Travel is committed to preserve the resources that made it possible for us to be in the place we are today. We are proud to be certified by the Certification for Sustainable Tourism (CST) program and are committed to the natural resources of Costa Rica, our local communities, and our own most valued asset - our employees.
Swiss Travel, through its sustainable tourism management system, directs its efforts into concrete actions that contribute to the environmental and social improvement of the places where it works. At the same time, this system allows the agency to plan its activities and subsequently evaluate the efficacy and continuing improvement of the organization.
As part of these actions, we have created a series of programs that focus on solid waste management, water and energy conservation, environmental education in schools, forest preservation programs, designing tourism products that include communities participation with direct benefits, responsible consumerism, training and education about sustainability for our partners, and participation in community outreach activities, and we recently have begun to reduce and compensate for our carbon footprint.
We attribute the success of our management to: staff training, which helps us to provide reliable service that respects the environment and local cultures; the involvement of partners and interested parties in our sustainability programs; taking action based on the principles of sustainability; and communication and information for our vendors, community, clients, and partners about our efforts to implement best management practices for sustainable tourism.
Swiss Travel is a member of Tour Operators Promoting Sustainability (TOPS), a specialized global platform of tour operators dedicated to promoting and supporting sustainable tourism in their respective markets.
