The Los Robles ecotourism project is located in the Conhuás ejido, or community, in Calakmul, Mexico – an area the local community has identified as having good potential for nature tourism.
The Conhuás community lies along the most important access route to the Calakmul archaeological zone, which is 40 miles (65 km) away. Conhuás is also located just 2.5 miles (4 km) from the Balam-kú archaeological zone and 7.5 miles (12 km) from Nadzcaan. All of these areas can be reached by public roads and are administered by the National Institute of Anthropology and History (INAH, for its name in Spanish).
The primary attraction at Los Robles is an interpretive trail where hikers can see eagles’ nests, howler and spider monkeys, and the tracks of different types of animals, among other things. It also has observation towers and a camping area.
