Description

Llano Grande is in the northern highlands of Oaxaca at 10,170 feet (3,100 meters) above sea level, in an ecosystem that is part montane mesophyll and part pine-oak forest. The region has a large variety of wild plants and animals, an especially rich bird fauna, and huge fir and pine trees.

One of the main attractions in this region is the Piedra Larga lookout, one of the highest points in the northern Sierra where you can enjoy a rare, panoramic view of the region -- an ideal place for enjoying a spectacular sunrise in a meditative or relaxed state and restoring strength.

By nature, Llano Grande is one of the cleanest communities in the country. Here you can enjoy top-quality service and the hospitality of the people, as well as the best traditional foods imaginable.

Making a Difference

  • We help to conserve our surroundings through the sustainable use of natural resources and by promoting conservation to the local people.
  • We create jobs directly and indirectly and we invest profits in the development of our community.

In all the ecotourism centers belonging to the United Peoples:

  • There are measures for the conservation, use, and maintenance of the forest by means of a community management plan.
  • We have designed a guide for visitors that outlines ways they can minimize their impact on the forest and its natural resources, along with recommendations for a safe stay and a pleasant experience.
  • We have wastewater treatment plants and techniques to manage organic and inorganic wastes.
