Description

Cabinas Las Olas offers a magical encounter with nature.

We are located at Avellanas Beach, Santa Cruz, Guanacaste, in the middle of a virgin mangrove forest. We provide friendly, high-quality service at one of Guanacaste’s best surfing beaches.

At Las Olas, you can find several species of wildlife such as howler monkeys, squirrels, raccoons, and a wide variety of birds. If you are looking for waves, you’ll get them — right in front of the hotel. Playa Avellanas has more than five breaks for surfing, with lefts and rights at high or low tide, and with “point” and “beach” breaks. You can surf all day long... this is a surfer’s paradise!

After a day of sun, surf, and relaxation, enjoy our bar and restaurant for delicious local or international cuisine.

Making a Difference

Number of employees: 15

Percentage of local employees: 100%

Since we were founded in 1995, our hotel has been an example of the balance that can be achieved between a mangrove reserve and tourism - we conserve nature while maintaining the income level needed to continue our activities. The recovery of the mangroves is noteworthy, as is seeing the monkeys and other wildlife species that live in them. We have accustomed ourselves to the animals, even the scorpions, snakes, and other species that have caused us to lose some clients on occasion.

Playa Avellanas has an ecological Blue Flag designation, a recognition that is given to communities that meet environmental standards for beach and sea water quality, potable water access, wastewater treatment, environmental education, security, and administration.
