Grutas Xoxafi is an ecotourism center in the indigenous region of the Valle del Mezquital (Hñahñu). The main attraction is the totally natural caves where there are guided tours, climbing, rappelling, and paintball. The zipline is one of the largest in the region at 2625 feet (800 meters) long! Nearby you can go hiking, walking, and star gazing.
The caves are home to six species of migratory bats.
We offer dishes made with seasonal local produce, including maguey flowers, aloe, garambullo or "old man cactus" flowers, xoconostle or "sour prickly pear cactus", quelites (wild Mexican greens), flor de palma or "yucca flowers," and fried maguey worms (actually caterpillars of a butterfly).
