Description

Golfo Dulce Lodge is located at the edge of the primary rainforest of Piedras Blancas National Park, which privately protects some 740 acres (300 hectares) of tropical lowland primary rainforest and secondary forest. Our lodge is excellent for birding and wildlife observation.

Staff members are local residents who receive continual training in conservation and sustainable issues such as recycling, waste separation and disposal, and English lessons.

Some donations (books, paper products, etc.) have been made to local schools.

The lodge is environmentally conscious; electricity is generated by a hydroplant, various septic tanks properly dispose of blackwater, and the freshwater pool does not have chlorine or chemicals.

Rates are in US dollars, include meals and taxes, and are per person. Rates do not include the boat transfer fee.

Getting There

Nearest international airport: San José (SJO)

Nearest local/national airport: Puerto Jiménez (PJM), Golfito (GLF)

Travel time to nearest airport: 30 minutes

From Golfito: take a 10-minute taxi ride to restaurant Samoa del Sur's dock, where the lodge will pick you up to take you by boat for a 30-minute trip along the scenic coast of the Golfo Dulce to the lodge at Playa San Josecito.

From Puerto Jiménez: take a 10-minute taxi ride to the public harbor, where the lodge boat will meet you to take you to the lodge in Playa San Josecito in about 45 minutes.
