Making a Difference

Since its inception, Costa Rican Trails has believed in and worked to incorporate sustainability into our business practices. In 2007, we signed the Code of Conduct against the Sexual Exploitation of Children and Adolescents. Currently, we have the highest level rating, 5 leaves, from the Certification for Sustainable Tourism, from the Costa Rican Tourism Institute. We've been verified by the Rainforest Alliance and participate in the Climate Friendly program to minimize carbon dioxide emissions, under which it has planted more than 1,250 trees in the province of Heredia.

With regards to social aspects, we collaborate with and provide monthly donations to organizations such as the Organization for Tropical Studies, the National Parks Foundation, the Caribbean Conservation Corporation, Paniamor Foundation, World Vision (helping to educate children in different areas of the country), and the Association for the Culture, Education and Psychology of Children and Adolescents, which helps train young people in the province of Guanacaste in areas such as the English language, so that they have more job opportunities. Community support is also coordinated with the city of Curridabat, where our company is located.

Costa Rican Trails is firmly committed to continually support the development of tourism in our country.

Costa Rican Trails participates in the Pack for a Purpose program, in which guests can bring school supplies, medical supplies, and other small items from home to donate to the local community. Guests simply drop off their donation with our staff, and we will deliver it for them.
