Description

Bosques del Tayrona is an ecotourism center located in the buffer zone of Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta National Park and Tayrona National Park.

The ecolodge is administered by the Sierra en Paz Farmers Association, a group of local residents who pushed to build this ecotourism project for the prosperity of their families; the project reflects their joint dream for sustainability.

Making a Difference

Percentage of local employees: 100%

The Sierra en Paz Farmers Association arose as an organization of rural farmers who decided to give up illicit crops to pursue legal livelihoods. The ecotourism development project became an income generation alternative and source of jobs for the communities, as well as a way to support the conservation of the environment where the lodge is located.
