Description

Crowning a point 500 feet (152 meters) above the Golfo Dulce, nestled in the unspoiled jungles of the Osa Peninsula, is a paradise found. Bosque del Cabo Rainforest Lodge is a romantic rainforest getaway and a naturalist’s dream come true. This 750-acre (304-hectare) forest reserve features private bungalows and gorgeous houses perched atop the cliffs of Cabo Matapalo. The Osa Peninsula is one of the most biologically diverse places on Earth and is home to the world-famous Corcovado National Park. Bosque del Cabo offers a rare opportunity to comfortably vacation among all this natural splendor. At the end of our driveway, you’re transported to a private Eden joining a thriving rainforest with the beauty of manicured grounds and breathtaking views. The lush gardens attract many of the area's colorful residents, including macaws, toucans (Ramphastidae), monkeys, and peccaries (Tayassuidae).

Trails on the property allow for further exploration of the jungle, refreshing natural tide pools, and waterfalls. You can spend your days hiking, whizzing through the air on our zipline, taking a walk across our suspension bridge, or just relaxing by the pool, sipping a tropical drink and watching the macaws fly by.

Rooms

Bosque del Cabo has ten beautifully crafted thatched-roof bungalows; each is privately set among lush gardens, offering stunning ocean views, modern bathrooms with delightful outdoor garden showers, and porches furnished with hammocks and easy chairs. Set high on a cliff overlooking the confluence of the mighty Pacific and the Golfo Dulce, these romantic bungalows are stirred by warm tropical breezes that echo with the rhythms of the pounding surf below. We also have three open-style accomodations in our five-acre (two-hectare) tropical garden and three ocean view rental houses for the ideal family vacation.

Making a Difference

Number of employees: 50

Percentage of local employees: 95%

From the beginning, we have understood the necessary balance between connecting our family, friends, and guests to this majestic area and the need to protect its most delicate aspects. In our attempts to care for this land, we recognize the need to promote environmental awareness and responsible practices with our guests, integrating renewable technologies to our infrastructure, and protecting the rainforest through private and public channels. Additionally, we know that no business can survive without ensuring the socio-economic and cultural health of the community in which it exists. Aside from being one of the largest sources of local employment, we proudly enjoy a relationship of mutual respect with the community and its leaders. We see the certification process not as an end in itself, but rather a means by which to frame our policies toward ever-better practices and even greater benefits for the natural and social elements that make the Osa Peninsula so special.

More than just a job, Bosque del Cabo Rainforest Lodge is the culmination of our dreams and life's work, a legacy we hope will solidify in the protection of this area and the continued flourishing of its incredible biodiversity.

Getting There

Nearest international airport: San José (SJO)

Nearest local/national airport: Puerto Jiménez (PJM)

Travel time to nearest airport: 45 minutes

The majority of our guests choose to fly into Puerto Jiménez with either of the two commercial airlines that have daily flights down from San José: Nature Air and Sansa. You can also charter a private plane.

We will be happy to take care of all of your travel reservations inside Costa Rica. We will arrange a 4x4 vehicle to be waiting at the airport to take you on the 45-minute (14-mile) ride up to the lodge, crossing pasture land and eventually ascending into primary rainforest. This is where the adventure begins, as you will cross several streams on the way and start to see some of the area's fantastic wildlife.
