Description

Xcalak is a small community of fishers in a natural protected area with spectacular natural attractions that are well-conserved.

Some of the main attractions are:

  • An extensive coral reef in good condition.
  • A wide variety of plants and animals.
  • Seven archeological remains between Punta Gavilán and Xcalak that have not been explored by archeologists.
  • A reef structure locally known as “La Poza” (The Pool), with special characteristics that make it unique in the country, especially for free diving.

All of the activities have been developed not just with an eye toward fun, but also taking safety and environmental conservation into consideration. Everywhere, tourists can learn about the natural wonders they are visiting. Popular activities include fly fishing in Chetumal Bay and boat trips to San Pedro (approximately 2 hours) in Belize where you can see wonderful natural attractions.
