Sandos Caracol Eco Resort & Spa is well on its way to becoming the number one environmentally-friendly property on the Riviera Maya, Mexico. We have upgraded 128 of the room units to create ecological rooms that reduce CO₂ emissions by 75%.

The scope of the room improvements included:

• Ultra-efficient air conditioning systems with low electrical consumption
• Solar water heating system, to avoid the use of gas
• Internal lighting system with LEDs
• Furniture made from certified wood
• Efficient system to recycle wastewater

Recognizing our responsibility to help preserve the region, Sandos Caracol Eco Resort & Spa currently has the following programs:

• Recycling and trash separation
• Use of biodegradable bottles throughout the resort
• Composting
• Protecting and reproducing indigenous plants
• Using recycled paper for all printed materials
• Improving the flow of the freshwater system
• Wildlife conservation
• Eco-educational activities including an eco tour, snorkel tour, romantic canoe ride and eco workshops in the Kids' Club

Sandos Caracol Eco Resort & Spa participates in the Pack for a Purpose program, in which guests can bring school supplies, medical supplies, and other small items from home to donate to the local community. Guests simply drop off their donation with our staff, and we will deliver it for them.
