The Hotel Giardino Tropicale is only 220 yards (200 meters) from the beach and is surrounded by lush vegetation and wildlife that can be seen in its extensive gardens.

Nosara is a unique area in Costa Rica--an eclectic destination that offers beautiful natural attractions, a quiet environment, and all the amenities necessary for your comfort. There is white and black sand, and the waters are good for swimming and surfing. At one of the nearby beaches, Ostional, you can witness the wonderful “arribadas” or mass arrivals of nesting olive ridley sea turtles (Lepidochelys olivacea). Making a Difference

Number of employees: 5

Percentage of local employees: 100%

Giardino Tropicale makes the management of environmental and social impact a priority through:

  • Use of solar energy to heat water and produce electricity.
  • Reduction of energy use--for example, by drying laundry outdoors.
  • Management of organic wastes and recycling.
  • Use of nature-friendly products and foods such as biodegradable soaps and organic foods.
  • Infrastructure: all construction was done with the utmost respect for the environment and by the highest “green development” standards.
  • The owners and employees of Giardino Tropicale are active implementors of sustainable efforts for the community. For example, we have supported programs to improve local schools and help them get Blue Flag certification as well as the development of the community recycling center. We also support the promotion of local history, culture, and art by sponsoring educational events and providing environmental education to local inhabitants. The hotel is also used by civic, sustainability, and recycling associations.
