The Sierra en Paz Farmers Association arose as an organization of rural farmers who decided to give up illicit crops to pursue legal livelihoods. The ecotourism development project became an income generation alternative and source of jobs for the communities, as well as a way to support the conservation of the environment where the lodge is located.
