Description

3 Rivers & Rosalie Forest Eco Lodge is set in a lush rainforest valley, surrounded by pristine rivers with a backdrop of rainforest mountains, in unspoiled eastern Dominica. We have four natural river pools within our boundaries, and offer a range of eco accommodations and nature, adventure, and community-based activities.

We are located on the edge of Morne Trois Pitons National Park, an ideal location for hiking and wildlife watching. There are an abundance of incredible hikes to all kinds of natural wonders, waterfalls, lakes, hot springs, a boiling lake, and plenty more.

Making a Difference

Number of employees: 8

Percentage of local employees: 100%

We are powered solely by renewable energy, we use only biodegradable cleaning products and our gardens are 100% organic.

We run a community life package holiday, where every day of activities is spent in the village with the locals, learning local farming methods, crafts, and helping in the village school. The host for each activity receives the payment for the day.

Through our NGO, the Sustainable Living Initiative, we facilitate an alternative energy program and organic farming training modules. Trainees are involved in both theoretical instruction and practical construction of alternative energy units initially at the centre and subsequently in their homes, farms, and communities. The idea is that the trainees are able to see one unit installed and working, and then they learn "hands on" with a second unit, which is disassembled and reassembled many times. Participants are able to purchase their own unit in full or in installments through a revolving loan fund, to be installed by the instructor and trainees during another workshop for people in that village. The idea is also to train the trainees as instructors to run future workshops.

3 Rivers & Rosalie Forest Eco Lodge participates in the Pack for a Purpose program, where guests can bring school supplies, medical supplies, and other small items from home to donate to the local community. Guests simply drop off their donation at the hotel's front desk, and 3 Rivers will deliver it for them.
