Our sustainable and environmental commitment:
- Hotel Presidente has a sustainable business management model, where the philosophy is focused on responsible tourism and a commitment to the environment which involves caring for the surroundings and the people living there.
- First hotel in the country certified as carbon neutral: The Hotel Presidente has reduced its carbon footprint (carbon dioxide emissions) by using less energy in its operations. This reduction has been achieved by educating and raising awareness among the personnel as well as investments in infrastructure improvements, equipment, and processes. Another part of its carbon footprint is neutralized by planting trees through the North American foundation Carbonfund.org™.
- Q-ADRA Project: Hotel Presidente founded a community project that brings together more than 30 leading businesses in San José to promote corporate social responsibility and educate the community. The objective is to maintain and improve public spaces and businesses through recycling and urban beautification programs in harmony with nature.
- Sustainable Tourism Certification: We comply with the standards for the Certification for Sustainable Tourism (CST) program of the Costa Rican Tourism Institute and we have obtained a 3-leaf rating.
Child protection:
- $1 for $1 Project: During your stay at our hotel, $1 is added to your account to support this campaign. The Hotel Presidente also contributes an additional $1 for each dollar donated by guests. These funds are used in partnership with two organizations that work on child protection. At the reception desk, guests can increase the amount of their donation or opt not to be part of the campaign.
- Alliance with ASONI: Hotel Presidente works with the Association for Children’s Smiles in Cristo Rey and Sagrada Familia, two communities at risk in San José, by voluntarily organizing special recreation activities for the children and donating school supplies, equipment, and furnishings at the start of each school year.
- Alliance with PANIAMOR: Through the “Turismo Solidario” program, we support the non-profit PANIAMOR foundation, an advocacy group for children’s rights. This foundation, in partnership with international organizations, follows a Code of Conduct that aims to combat the sexual exploitation of children and adolescents. It also invests in programs to narrow the technological gap in marginalized neighborhoods, improve education, prevent key risks for children, and promote the creation of laws that protect children’s rights.
Quality:
- Program for best manufacturing practices: We have a food safety program to assure clients that the foods they consume at our hotel is free of contamination and prepared following best practices. The program is extended to our service providers through procedures, international standards, and controls in production, packaging, transport, and storage areas.
