Made up of 700 islands just a few hundred miles southeast of Florida, you’ll find the classic Caribbean beauty and laid-back lifestyle in the Bahamas. Whether you prefer snorkeling, bird watching, sailing, or fishing, the possibilities here are endless.

Every island offers endless stretches of beautiful beaches where you can relax in the sun and swim in turquoise waters. Bird watchers flock to the Bahamas’ ponds, mangroves, wetlands, and native forests to see more than 100 species of birds, including the West Indian flamingo and the endemic Bahama yellowthroat, as well as many species of birds that migratory birds. Hikers can head to Bimini Nature Hiking Trail and learn more about the island’s animal and plant life from an experienced guide.

In the past, the waters of the Bahamas have hosted trade ships, pirates, and of course, Christopher Columbus. Today, the Photo by Miami Charterislands are a major destination for boaters who travel between the beautiful outer islands. Sport fishers come to the Bahamas to catch bonefish, blue marlin, and more.

The climate in the Bahamas is tropical, and the weather can be cooler compared to other more southern Caribbean islands depending on the time of year and the trade winds. Visitors are advised to heed hurricane warnings in the late summer and early fall. English is the official language. The Bahamian dollar is linked to U.S. dollar, which is accepted around the islands.
